Erard London

Erard n. 2563 (numerazione londinese) 1850

Sébastien Erard (1752-1831) was perhaps the most famous of all harp makers and the greatest innovator in the building of piano actions. His two most important patents were for agraffes (threaded brass or bronze studs with holes through which the strings pass before being wound on the tuning pins) and the double escapement (also called double repetition).

Erard built his first grand piano in Paris in about 1790 and later worked in London and Paris.
