The closed instrument looks like a small writing desk, but contains all the elements of a normal piano inside (strings, iron frame, action). After unscrewing its four legs, it takes on the appearance of a large trunk, which, when loaded onto the carriage, was presumably easily transported to the country residence or to places to stay during holidays.
