The form of square piano was derived from the earlier “virginal” and “clavichord”.<\/p>\n

Table pianos have a very lightweight, sensitive action\u00a0 and make a particularly attractive sound. They are designed for use in the home, like the upright piano which was so very popular with so many amateur pianists from the mid-eighteenth to the late nineteenth century. Table pianos ceased to be produced at the beginning of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n
