Nicol\u00f2 Lachin (1816-1891) was born in Venice but soon he moved to Padua, where he learned the art of making pianos from the famous at that time Gregorio Trentin. He founded a piano factory based in Padua in Selciato del Santo (today Via del Santo).<\/p>\n

The name of Nicol\u00f2 Lachin soon acquired a good reputation as can be seen from the awards at Universal Exhibitions and testimonies of the era.<\/p>\n

Among all, there is a particularly laudatory letter from Sigmund Thalberg (famous virtuoso, rival of Franz Liszt) who had the opportunity to play some of Lachin’s instruments in his workshop. The present specimen follows the Pleyel model of the time.<\/p>\n
