Square pianos were built and became widespread until the end of the 19th century achieving dimensions and sonority similar to those of grand pianos.<\/p>\n

The present specimen, with its imposing structure, is fitted with a massive cast-iron plate in a single casting, serving both ornamental and structural reinforcement functions. Also made of cast-iron is the pedalboard, equipped with a single pedal for raising the dampers.<\/p>\n

Comparison with other exemplars of the period, its construction characteristics, and the use of certain materials, suggests that it belongs to the Swedish production area.<\/p>\n
